Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Xinxu of Zhongxin, Lianping County, Guangdong (original data unavailable).. It was named by Nan Yi et al. in 1962.


Lithology and Thickness

Sandstone and Limestone. Lower part consists of limestone intercalated with sandstone and shale, 80 m thick. Middle part is of sandstone intercalated with shale and coal, about 80 m thick. Upper part is dominated by red clastic rock intercalated with limestone and chert, locally intercalated with ferruginous sandstone, 47 m thick. In the area east of Longchuan−Zijin, it is dominated by sandstone intercalated with sandstone-conglomerate and shale, locally with limestone or chert lenses, carbonaceous shale or thin-bedded inferior coal.

Fossils

Lower part contains Coral Arachnolasma sp., brachiopod Spirifer sp., Fusulinid Eostaffella sp. Middle part contains Plants Rhodea sp. and Neuropteris sp. Upper part contains Fusulinid Eostaffella, Brachiopod Striatifera as well as foraminifers, etc.
